A working alarm system buys you the minutes that matter in a fire. Irish standards have moved on from a single battery alarm in the hall — here is what compliant protection looks like today.
Where alarms must go
IS 3218 sets out a minimum layout for domestic alarms:
- Smoke alarms on every escape route and landing
- A heat alarm in the kitchen
- Smoke alarms in living rooms and main bedrooms
- All units mains-powered with battery backup
Why interlinked alarms matter
When alarms are interlinked, one detecting smoke sets them all off — so you are warned no matter where the fire starts or where you are in the house. This is now the expected standard for safe, compliant installations.
For landlords
Rental properties have specific obligations. We install compliant, interlinked systems and issue the certification landlords need to meet their duties.
