A full rewire is a big job, but for older homes it is often the only way to make the electrics safe and ready for modern living. Here is what to expect from start to finish.
Signs your house needs a rewire
Homes wired before the 1990s often show their age. Watch for:
- Rubber, fabric or lead-sheathed cabling
- Too few sockets, with extension leads everywhere
- An old fuse board with no RCD protection
- Frequent tripping, flickering or warm switches
How long does it take?
A typical three-bed home takes around five to ten working days depending on size and access. We work room by room where possible so you can stay in the house, and we plan the schedule with you in advance.
Certification and grants
Every rewire is carried out to ET101:2018 standards and finished with a completion certificate. If you are renovating, a rewire pairs well with SEAI home-energy upgrades, and we can advise on what work qualifies for support.
